We love food. We love to prepare it, eat it, serve it, and talk about it. We cook a feast two or three times a week. The other days we eat leftovers or make something simple. We love to have friends and family over. Shih Han is a master bar-b-quer. His Malaysian style bar-b-qued chicken wings have a small but extremely loyal fan club. Every summer get together has to include them.
We also like going out to eat. Occasionally, we go to a fancy restaurant with friends, but we prefer inexpensive restaurants with good food. On weekends we love to venture out to Chinatown to eat a great meal with our friends and to go to the grocery to buy things that we can’t get locally. There are two restaurants that we go to so frequently that the staff knows us. No matter how busy, the waitresses will stop to chat with Shih Han.
To work off all the food, we exercise regularly. We workout at a local gym and we run. We generally run in the neighborhood. There are a couple of parks nearby. Occasionally, we will drive to the beach to run on the boardwalk. We’ll get a running stroller so that we can bring the baby along.
While living abroad Chris became an avid photographer. Chris taught himself the basics using books and the Internet. Chris has hundreds of photographs that document our years abroad. The best we blew up and framed. Chris still takes his camera wherever he goes, but he takes fewer pictures nowadays. We expect that once we are blessed with a child he will take many pictures again.
Since moving back to his family home, Chris has become extremely interested in gardening. He learned the basics from his parents. Growing up Chris would help with chores around the garden. But in the past several years he have read extensively and experimented.
Shih Han is responsible for the vegetable garden. We grow lots of stuff, including herbs like basil and dill and vegetables like cucumber, lettuce, and tomatoes. It will be fun to teach our child to plant and nurture his/her own garden patch.
